Participants can communicate through phone, email, or in person (e.g., personal visits, or meeting for tea, coffee, or a meal). Participants are expected to simply be friends with their new international friend and respect their culture, but are not responsible for any financial, academic, immigration, or medical needs. Global Spouse Connection Moving to the U.S. can be challenging for spouses/partners of other internationals that are here to work or study. And let’s face it, sometimes it can get lonely! We aim to help members of this group find friendships and support within the Madison community. Sometimes we’ll have lunch together outdoors, do a bit of volunteer work, or explore local landmarks. Little ones younger than school age are welcome at most sessions. We will meet at Eagle Heights Brown Shelter at 1:00 pm.

International Cooking and Dinner is a free event held once a month during the academic year that brings together the international community in Madison around food. Through this event, international students, visiting scholars, and other global citizens will use our modern kitchen and dining hall to cook and share dishes from their countries. Participants come from all parts of the world and are eager to share their rich culinary heritage with Americans. Cooking starts at 3 p.m. and dinner follows at 6 p.m. We provide all the ingredients they need for their dishes.
