Fall and Winter Festivities
The annual Apple Picking and Picnic is an activity that Madison International Partners organizes in the fall (September) to give internationals the opportunity to discover the rural side of Wisconsin. Through this activity, students travel to an orchard to pick apples. A picnic usually follows in the countryside.

Thanksgiving is a holiday which Americans traditionally celebrate with both family and friends. The campuses are usually closed and most domestic students go home for the holiday. For international students and visiting scholars, this can potentially be a lonely time.
Madison International Partners makes it possible for international students and visiting scholars to be part of the Thanksgiving celebration by recruiting families from the Madison community to host international friends and share their Thanksgiving celebration with them. This is usually a memorable time for international participants as they experience American culture and learn more about why and how Americans celebrate this special holiday. For most host families, it’s a rich and unique cross-cultural experience.
