The program works by matching native English speakers with international students or families. Participants can communicate through phone, email, or in person (e.g., personal visits, or meeting for tea, coffee, or a meal). Participants are expected to simply be friends with their new international friend and respect their culture, but are not responsible for any financial, academic, immigration, or medical needs. The frequency of meeting can be determined by the participants, and participants can request a change if they are not compatible with their current match. To sign up, call (608) 257-4845 today. We will meet at the Pres House - 731 State St, Madison, WI 53703.

Every week internationals from all over the world gather to have meaningful interactions with native speakers, practice their English, learn more about American culture and share their own culture with Americans.
Moving to the U.S. can be challenging for spouses/partners of other internationals that are here to work or study. And let’s face it, sometimes it can get lonely!
We aim to help members of this group find friendships and support within the Madison community. Sometimes we’ll have lunch together outdoors, do a bit of volunteer work, or explore local landmarks. Little ones younger than school age are welcome at most sessions.
We will meet at Eagle Heights Brown Shelter at 1:00 pm.
Friday Night English Conversation Time (ECT) is a flexible program that gathers internationals and Americans for English practice, friendship, and cross-cultural exchanges. It provides international students and visiting scholars with a safe, relaxed, outside-the-classroom opportunity to interact with individual Americans, American families and other internationals drawn from diverse backgrounds. It’s a great opportunity for internationals to use English outside of a textbook and socialize.
